One of the Harley Street Dental Group priorities is the concern about the environment. We have in place many activities designed to reduce our environmental impact and we promote 'Green' behaviour among all our staff.
These activities include:
Paper choice : Our choice of paper used within the group is done with discretion
The Conqueror paper we choose is made from cellulose obtained from replanted trees. It uses ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free), a bleaching process that does not use Chlorine.
The paper has the most outstanding international certificates. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) an international organisation created in 1993 to halt the devastation of forests. It has become a worldwide reference in developing a rigorous system to verify that the extraction of wod used for the paper follows standards that avoid deforestation and help preserve biodiversity.
It is recycled paper with cotton, using a minimum of 33% recycled fibres from office waste. It contains cotton fibres that increase strength and smoothness to the touch whilst recycling a by-product of the textile industry
The paper is produced with Carbon Neutral protocols reduce carbon emissions without reducing quality,
Toxin reduction : We are an 'Amalgam-free' practice and as such are helping to reduce the impact on the environment from the use of industrial Mercury, a component of dental amalgam fillings.
We have amalgam – safe filters in our suction and waste pipes and have special equipment available to reduce our patient's exposure to mercury when removing old dental metal fillings
We use digital X-ray equipment in all our facilities, thus eliminating the need for the chemicals used in traditional radiography development as well as not needing paper to print these images
Electronic communication : To reduce our reliance on paper postage we have invested heavily in the technology to be able to send our patient reminders, letters, invoices and all documentation electronically.
We are fully computerised in all practices and use email to communicate where possible to reduce our paper consumption.
Energy conservation : We have invested heqavily in efficient heating, insulation and energy recycling processes to reduce our energy needs
