Dental implants

In the past, tooth loss used to be resolved by giving people removable dentures or bridges. However dental implants have revolutionised treatment for people with broken or absent teeth. A dental implant is an ideal solution to permanently replace both the missing tooth and root and is therefore one of the most widely applicable solutions to restore people's smiles.

All on 4

For people whose mouth's aren't able to have normal implants fitted but want to replace a full set of teeth, there is a new treatment called 'All on 4' which employs cleverly sited implants at the back and front of the jaws to form a foundation for dentures or bridges to span. All on 4 is less invasive than full implant treatments and you can have it fitted in one day.

FAQ about porcelain veneers

What is a veneer?

A veneer emulates the shape and colour of a natural tooth and looks like a very thin layer of porcelain affixed on top of the natural teeth and is used to give the appearance of a perfectly even, white smile.

What are the advantages of veneers?

Veneers are used to restore confidence by creating an instant attractive and flawless smile.

Why would a veneer be suitable for me?

A veneer is used to tackle a variety of dental issues including stained, chipped, mis-shaped or crooked teeth to enhance the aesthetics of the smile.

What are the alternatives?

Alternatives to veneers are white fillings (so long as the tooth corners are not broken) or crowns.

How long does a veneer last?

Veneers are designed to last for many years although they can break in the same way as natural teeth so you need be careful when eating hard foods, opening things with your teeth or even chewing a pen.

How are the teeth prepared for veneers?

Before the veneers are placed over the tooth, it is important to make room by removing a thin layer of the tooth enamel, a procedure performed under local anaesthetic. An impression of the teeth is then taken so that the dentist can be guided during placement. You will first be fitted with temporary veneers while the permanent ones are manufactured precisely to match your natural teeth.

How long does it take for veneers to be fitted?

You will require 2 visits for your veneers to be fitted starting with a teeth impression followed by the placement of veneers and making sure they are cemented into the right position. You will be consulted about the aesthetics of your new smile before the dentist bonds the veneers to the teeth to make sure you are perfectly happy with the results.

Are temporary veneers necessary?

Temporary veneers are not always required depending on the extent of the work.
