Dr Bal is one of only a few UK-registered specialist orthodontists. She completed a three-year postgraduate orthodontic training at Western Sussex Hospital Trust. She was awarded a Master’s in Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics from the prestigious UCL Eastman Dental Institute in London.

Dr Bal has also been awarded membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in England (M.Orth). She is an active member of the British Orthodontic Society, the British Lingual Orthodontic Society and the American Orthodontic Society.

Dr Bal is the founder and secretary of The Orthodontic Study Club (OSC) in Central London. There, she brings together orthodontists to maintain high standards of orthodontics, keep up with research, and inspire newly qualified orthodontists.

Dr Bal has a unique and modern eye for detail, combining the management of facial proportions and teeth and relating the structures of the face to the smile aesthetics. Her specialist areas include:

  • Fixed orthodontics for adults and children,
  • Early interceptive orthodontics for children,
  • Invisalign® for adults
  • Invisalign® for teens
  • Invisalign® First for children,
  • Lingual (behind the teeth) braces
  • Orthognathic, complex and collaborative multidisciplinary treatments

Dr Bal believes orthodontic treatment is crucial to healthy dental development. She is passionate about contemporary approaches to early management of paediatric (children’s) malocclusion and interceptive treatment for children aged 7-10.

She uses comfortable, affordable clear aligners to allow children and teenagers to gain confidence in their smiles without brackets and wires.

Dr Bal regularly attends national and international congresses, keeping current with the latest evidence-based techniques in Orthodontics and Cosmetic Dentistry. She has published scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented research at international conferences in Australia, the USA, and Europe, and been awarded several prizes for her work in Dentistry.

Before her specialist orthodontic role, Dr Bal held hospital appointments as a senior house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery. There, she gained experience in complex orthognathic surgery and wisdom tooth surgery and assisted in major cancer and trauma surgeries. She has also worked as a researcher in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Jacksonville, Florida, USA.

In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, horse riding and reading.
